Learn Something from a Movie: Matilda

The movies that titled "Matilda" are two of some movies that I watched on this holiday. I watched those on Netflix in my phone. There were two version of Matilda, the "regular" one and the musical. I found those after I inputed 'musical' as the keyword in the searchbox, because I was on the obsession in watching musical movies at that time after remembered the last musical movies I have watched, "Annie", "Mary Poppins", and "Mary Poppins Return".

I was impressed and touched by the two versions of Matilda. I think the movies were spectacular and I hope all my friend and family watch this too. The story is about a girl named Matilda Wormwood that has broken-mind-and-attituded family, that also took her school at broken-unfriendly-school that leads by a rude headmistress. Matilda is a very-smart and critical girl, and the most important, she is a bookworm. The books she read were amazing. Because of the big capacity of her mind, her friends' said that if her head can't withstand of her genius brain, and her mind can explode through her eyes and move objects. And, that is what happened in the movies. Matilda can do a telekinesis!

Matilda shown as a revolting child (that also be a trigger for the other children to revolt), both to her parents or to the headmostress of her school. She opened my mind that not everything is understandable. if we just keep quiet, things won't change. Even though there was no religious element in the movies, the message contained in them reminds me of al-Qur'an surah ar-Rad verse 11:

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:

لَهٗ مُعَقِّبٰتٌ مِّنْۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهٖ يَحْفَظُوْنَهٗ مِنْ اَمْرِ اللّٰهِ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتّٰى يُغَيِّرُوْا مَا بِاَ نْفُسِهِمْ ۗ وَاِ ذَاۤ اَرَا دَ اللّٰهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوْٓءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهٗ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِهٖ مِنْ وَّا لٍ
"For him (man) there are angels who always take care of him in turn, from the front and behind him. They guarded it at the command of Allah. Surely Allah will not change the condition of a people before they change their own condition. And if Allah wills evil against a people, then no one can reject it and there is no protector for them besides Him."
(QS. Ar-Ra'd 13: Ayat 11)

She was just like raised by the books. She was unlike her family. In the musical, her family was just her parents (mother and father. Her father always called her 'son' because from the beginning wished to had a boy), besides in the older movie, she also had an older brother named Michael Wormwood. By the way, her father named Harry Wormwood, and her mother named Zinnia Wormwood. The cruel headmistress named Agatha Trunchbull, and her beloved teacher (and later adoptive mother) is Jennifer Honey.

There were some differences of the first Matilda movie and the last one (musical), such as: the role-players (of course, the first movie made in 1996, the second made in 2022); Matilda's brother; the little details like how Harry's hat continuously stuck to his head before being released by Matilda in musical movie), the race of Honey and Ms. Honey's parents' job, the newt; etc. But, there were much more constancy like that Agatha Trunchbull is a former shot put athlete, the chokey (worst punishment in the school), and the happy ending, that Matilda adopted by Ms. Honey, so that make her Matilda Wormwood.

What is amazing of Matilda is not her ability of telekinesis, bit her durability, her braveness, her way of think, and kindness. I almost not believe that she was just (in average) 10 years old girl. 

There are so much more I want to write about the movies, but I think it will be better if you all just watch the movie by yourself on so many legal platform.

Once again, the movies teach me that we have to brave and know what is right to do. To reach that, it is important to explore the knowlegde, one of them through books.
